Thanksgiving!!
Wow, it's Thanksgiving, or it was yesterday. Officially, it's Black Friday, but we avoided the stores, other than the grocery store.
We had ourselves a little stay-cation for Thanksgiving, took the namesake (that would be the little red guy on his bed below, if you haven't heard the story already) and went downtown.
We celebrated Thanksgiving at the Hotel Lucia, on Broadway. It's a nice boutique hotel. And this morning was the Macy's parade, right down the street in front of the hotel. We could see it from our room windows.
I want one of these poinsettia umbrellas!
All in all, a very relaxed holiday. And the doggie was well behaved, once he got used to things.
We've been busy since the last event. Lots of test firings with some new techniques, and many ready to go into firing. This is what's in the kiln right now, one item of which my neighbor Angie will be very happy to see:
Angie, yours is the top right one. Once it's done fire polishing, it's all yours! Should be tomorrow sometime. If you'll be out and about, hit me up at the below event
We'll be at Hillsboro Holly Days tomorrow, from 1-6. Come see live reindeer, Santa, the tree lighting, and all sorts of fun things to see, eat, drink and do in downtown Hillsboro tomorrow.
Our last event of the season will be next weekend at McMenamins Cornelius Pass Holiday Market, Sunday, December 6th. If you can't make it to downtown Hillsboro tomorrow, come out to Cornelius Pass next weekend and say hi!!
After this event we'll be traveling for Christmas, but otherwise busy in the studio creating, and posting new items to the website, and we can always be reached by email or phone/text. Don't forget about the items available at Walters Cultural Arts Center, and keep an eye out for other venues soon!
Happy Holidays!
It's nearly December ??
Hard to believe, but true. Almost Thanksgiving, almost December 1st. Time sure does fly. Kiln's firing away, pieces ready to go into it when the piece in it is done, and on and on. I've been posting more to the business Facebook page more so than here lately (www.facebook.com/copperglassworks), but eventually all will be integrated. And sold pieces will be noted so there isn't any overlap. A piece that I just posted that went into the kiln yesterday is done, and it's pretty fascinating. A new series has been born!! Here's how it looked when it went into the kiln:
And here's how it looked today, when I pulled it out after a 25 hour cycle:
Jack, the shop guru, has given it a name. I'll put that up with the photo. Or you can see it in person. It will be with us tomorrow at our next event.
Speaking of events, we've got a busy few weeks coming up. Tomorrow we can be found at the Grout Elementary Holiday Bazaar, 9-3, 3119 SE Holgate Blvd, Portland.
There's also a silent auction, where I've donated a piece.
The Saturday after Thanksgiving, we'll be at the Hillsboro Holly Days Festival in downtown Hillsboro. More info to come on that one. And on Sunday, December 6th, we'll be at the Cornelius Pass Holiday Event. Just got the final details on that today. We're very excited about that!
We hope to see you at some of our upcoming events. Here is a current look into our outdoor studio, while I'm getting another piece ready for firing:
Note my nerdy glasses. I needed a break from my contacts for the day. And this is the piece in the kiln right now:
Oopsie, got the water bottle in the back :). We've got stuff stored everywhere in the studio. This kiln gives off zero heat when firing so it's easy for things to migrate back close to it.
So long for now!!
Busy Month!
Wow, October was a crazy month for us! We've taken today to just breathe. November looks to be a little busy, but nothing near like October was. The Kiln's been firing away getting some more stuff ready. Plus the holidays are coming!!
Check out the Work groups, as some new items have been added. I'm still working out the logistics of the shopping cart, so if you have an interest in anything you see, please let me know via the Contact page, or email.
Places you can find us in November:
First up is the OGG Studio Tour and Sale. My garage studio is one on the Tour! Looks to be fun, and people can see what we do in our detached garage.
Then we'll be at the Grout Elementary School Holiday Bazaar on November 21st. They reached out to us to ask us to apply for this juried event, so it should be interesting. Details to come.
Then November 28th is the Hillsboro Holly Days event, 1pm-6pm. More information to come on that one as well.
We also have an event at the beginning of December that I'm very excited about, that we were accepted for. More details on that one later on.
Gotta run and check the kiln!!
